In 0ctober 2021, Mark Zuckerberg announced Metaverse – a digital future of people’s social interaction. A space were representations of people – avatars – work and entertain together in the virtual world. It sounded stunning. It sounded incredible, but also it raised multiple questions: how to do it? How make this vision come true? What are the tools that can help content creators to compete fairly in this new Metaverse market?
 
Since then, universities and private companies have mobilized their R&D teams to find technologies that could connect virtual reality, social media, and teleconference systems. A crucial step in achieving this goal is an application of volumetric sound for an immersive, life-like experience.

ZYLIA 6DoF combines hardware and software based on Higher-Order Ambisonics technology. It is a multi-microphone solution that allows recording an entire, three-dimensional sound space at any place and in any environment; for instance, you can set it up on the stage during an artistic performance or in the woods to capture the ambient. The sound recorded by ZYLIA 6DoF can be further implemented in Virtual Reality, allowing the viewer to explore it both visually and audibly smoothly. In this virtual space, a listener can freely move and choose any listening point and orientation. For whole the time, the sound corresponds to the viewer’s position and results in the most realistic experience possible.

Facebook (or rather Meta) already spent billions of dollars on their Metaverse. Still, the company will invest in its Facebook Reality Labs division – where it works on VR and AR – much more during the next few years. It's a giant cake that everyone would like to try a piece of.
